Lion plaza is one of the most successful specialty retail centers in San Jose. Conceived in 1983, the project was designed to cater to the emerging Asian American population in East San Jose. Today, many consider Lion Plaza as the "Chinatown" of San Jose. Developed in three phases, (as a result of traffic mitigation requirements) this 115,000 SF center was fully leased prior to the completion of each phase of construction. The final phase of this project was completed in 1987.
