YHLA in joint venture with MWM Architects designed the renovation and expansion of the Oakland International Airport Terminal 2 Building. YHLA was responsible for the interior architecture and new building systems including: in-bound baggage system; interiors at the new baggage claim building; ticketing, concourse, gate renovations and improvements; new restrooms; new 10 lane security check point; security, tele-communications, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems. YHLA was one of the leaders in the effort for LEED Silver Certification, the first ever in the United States for an airport passenger terminal. The owner requested YHLA to perform construction contract administration for the entire shell/core and interiors.
